Meet The Improv Teams of the CCC 2020 (Part 1)
/CSz Philadelphia - Home of ComedySportz announces the return of the Collegiate Comedy Challenge, a four-day improv comedy competition where local college improv teams compete for fun and laughs.
And a trophy.
The Collegiate Comedy Challenge is February 7, 14, and 21 @ 8PM. The Championship Round is February 28 @ 8PM.
This year, we asked the teams some probing questions about themselves and improv. Their answers are below.
Riot Act - University of Delaware
Q: If your team was a team of crime fighting superheroes, what super power would you all have and why?
A: If we were super hero’s our power would be to shape shift. We all enjoy switching characters and personalities so it would only make our hero disguises that much better.
Q: If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?
A: Copacabana would be our song. It is a fun mix of something kinda dark masquerading as something playful and funny.
Q: If your team were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A: As an animal our team would be a peacock because we our proud of our lovely and distracting appearance even though it might cause us to get eaten by a tiger.
Q: What is your favorite thing about doing improv?
A: Our favorite thing about improv is that you can have a conversation later about things that “happened” that make perfect sense only to the people who were involved. Everyone else thinks you’re on acid.
Performs Friday February 7th @ 8PM.
Soviet Purgatory - Albright College
Q: If your team was a team of crime fighting superheroes, what super power would you all have and why?
A: Our superpower would be calligraphy because we all have wanted to learn it and it would put this city on the "write" track.
Q: If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?
A: Our theme song would be "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Poison because one of our teammates hates Bret Michaels a lot so, just to upset her, we chose this song.
Q: If your team were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A: If we were all an animal, we would be a flounder, specifically Flounder from "The Little Mermaid" because one of our teammates was Flounder in a production of "The Little Mermaid" and the rest of us "flounder" on stage.
Q: What is your favorite thing about doing improv?
A: Our favorite thing about improv is having fun as an ensemble and making our mentor, Matt, watch us do bad improv in rehearsal.
Performs Friday February 7th @ 8PM.
Without A Net - University of Pennsylvania
Q: If your team was a team of crime fighting superheroes, what super power would you all have and why?
A: Fly...
Q: If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?
A: Free Fallin’ because we lack a net.
Q: If your team were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A: Sloth, also our favorite sin.
Q: What is your favorite thing about doing improv?
A: Breaking.
